Axé Capoeira Vancouver is a well-established Capoeira studio with a rich history and exceptional leadership. Celebrating 30 years of operation in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, it is the oldest and largest academy in Canada, founded by the world-renowned master of Capoeira, Mestre Barrão, and led by the globally famous master, athlete, MMA fighter, stunt performer, and leader Mestre Barrãozinho. The Downtown branch is led by the Capoeira world champion and Afro-Brazilian culture ambassador, Manga Rosa, a graduate student of Mestre Barrãozinho.

Mestre Barrão is a visionair who has paved the road of contemporary capoeira & opened the doors of capoeira and Afro-Brazilian culture to the world. Mestre Barrão continues to built vibrant and strong capoeira community, to write capoeira music and to promote the art of capoeira and culture of Brazil internationally.

Mestre Barrãozinho (Marcus Aurelio) is a world-renowned capoeira master with a legacy of over 30 years. His expertise and passion for capoeira have inspired countless students and enthusiasts worldwide. Thanks to his continuous work, Axé Capoeira Vancouver is now the largest capoeira academy in Canada. The son of a famous Capoeira Master, Mestre Barrão, Marcus Aurelio is the pioneer and owner of some of the most spectacular knockouts in MMA history, and he has become an internet sensation with tens of millions of views across social media. He works regularly in the film industry as an actor and stuntman to showcase his entertainment skills and to meet new inspiring artists, while still travelling to compete and conduct capoeira seminars worldwide. Mestre Barrãozinho is a true leader who builds strong capoeiristas and beautiful community in Lower Mainland.

Graduada Manga Rosa

Graduada Manga Rosa (Yulia Terekh) has been committed to learn, teach and promote capoeira for over 13 years now. Yulia is a seasoned Capoeira competitor and the current Copa Mundial de Capoeira 2023 titleholder and Capoeira Warrior Challenge Asia champion for 2024. Graduada Manga Rosa is a global ambassador of the art form as she has traveled to at least 8 countries for capoeira workshops, shows and exchanges. She has trained under the legendary Mestre Barrãozinho since 2011 in Vancouver, and since 2023 she's been teaching in Downtown Vancouver, inspiring a new wave of capoeira enthusiasts and following the lead of her teachers and Masters.

Graduada Manga Rosa is committed to sharing her passion for capoeira with students of all ages and skill levels. Yulia creates a supportive and vibrant learning environment. Her classes are full of passion, knowledge and hard work, her leadership helps others to thrive and enjoy developing their capoeira skills.
